A Bank Holiday Poem

Predicting stock price rises
Is best done with flip of coin
For there often are surprises
As when erstwhile enemies join

The course of interest rates
Can cause P and L damnation
As the whole market debates
The future level of inflation

The FX forecast game
Is a sport for mugs and fools
Now Asian CBs get the blame
For not playing by the rules

The weather, however, I’m happy to say
Never causes the forecaster any such pains
The first Monday in May is a bank holiday
And it’s always quite sure on this day that it rains
